Reunion Updates

Romeril, Romriell, Romrell Family Reunion Newsletter
August 16, 2007

Dear Romeril, Romriell, Romrell Family,
It has been almost a week since the Romeril reunion in Ogden. I enjoyed seeing all of you again, and making new acquaintances. Everyone there was very friendly and eager to meet others and share family histories and photos.

The committee for the next reunion in August of 2010 is the same as for this past reunion, with one exception. Sean Steiner will be one of the assistants to the chairman.

So, Jarette Lykins is once again the chairman, Sean Steiner and Isabell Stringham are the assistants; Gaye Griffith is the membership recorder; Karen Nielsen (with a rep from each family) is the Decendancy recorder; Randy Romrell is the treasurer; Doris Bateman and Isabell Stringham are the research verifiers and recorders; Byron Mills is the Webmaster; Sean Steiner is the talent show coordinator; Cindy & Mark Romrell are the story and photo reproducers; Dale and Bonnie Romrell are the workers, at large.

Our two “kids” were at the reunion and we got a snapshot of them. They are Mary Romrell, age 96, from Idaho, and Parley Oleson, age 93, from the Ogden area. They are amazing people, full of vim and vigor.

We acknowledged several people and couples who have served missions for the Church, one couple having served 4 missions, so far. We also compiled a list of direct descendants who have served as missionaries for the Church. If you have a family member that should be on that list, please contact Isabell Stringham at isabells@xmission.com.

We also enjoyed the talent show on Friday night. One of the entertainers was 83 year old Lenna Albiston, who played a couple of jazzy dance numbers on her saxophone. Wow! There were several talented people who took part in the program. It was fun!

There was a presentation by Wes Cox about Mary Billot’s family; Isabell Stringham told about the work she and Doris Bateman have been doing to verify all the information on the Romeril line, and to locate more family history (we should submit the information we each have to them for an accuracy check); Karen Nielsen told us about the descendancy chart and asked for more help with it; we visited the gravesite of Mary and Francis Romeril (which has been reset and cleaned), the Romrell park, and the old brick house that George Pierce and Francis Romeril built.

In all, I think it was a great reunion. We missed many of you who weren’t there, but hope you will plan to come to the next one in August 2010. There will be further information as time goes by, via email, however, so please contact your family members who don’t have email.

Sincerely, Jarette Lykins, 2010 Reunion Chairman.
